My name is Casey, and I'm the solo developer building Waves of Silence. Ambient soundscapes and white noise have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — falling asleep to the hum of the dishwasher, or on family vacations, my dad playing waterfall sounds from a physical white noise machine. Beyond a sleep aid, ambient background noise became a staple for focus and relaxation too: lo-fi beats for deep work, a crackling fireplace for reading. It became something I relied on constantly.

The problem was always the same — most sources of soundscapes were limited in customization and shallow in their catalog. So I built Waves of Silence, first and foremost as an app for myself: something to shape soundscapes to my exact preference. Through it, I'm hoping to build something useful for like-minded people who lean on ambient sound for focus, relaxation, sleep, or their daily routine.

I'm building this solo, alongside a full-time job, which means development happens in nights and weekends rather than all at once. But it also means every feature in the app is something I actually wanted to exist. I will be adding new sounds to the catalog and new features as I think of them, and I'd love to hear what you want to see — if there's a sound or feature you're missing, reach out and let me know.
